Offers a place where people from various passions and professions can connect.
We meet once a month at a local coffeehouse to discuss articles/books about the urban form that inspire us and make us think, share stories, brainstorm ideas, and discuss opportunities for collaboration on placemaking efforts. We meet the first Thursday of the month from 6pm-8pm at Krakatoa in Golden Hill.
The concept of Beans & Banter is fashioned after the English coffeehouses, of the 17th and 18th centuries, where people would meet for conversation, learn of the news of the day, and "discuss matters of mutual concern." Historians often associate English coffeehouses of that era with the intellectual and cultural history of the Age of Enlightenment. Perhaps one day historians will associate Beans & Banter with the Age of Placemaking in San Diego (nerdy joke).
